Ritzau is looking for a .NET Developer to join our growing product team. You'll help develop and maintain the services and APIs that power our digital products and ensure reliable, secure, and scalable solutions for our customers.

Job description

As a .NET Developer at Ritzau, you'll help develop and maintain our backend systems, delivering new features and improvements while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and reliability.

You will join a growing product team as its sixth developer and work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders. We build our products with C#, .NET, PostgreSQL, React, TypeScript, and TanStack Start, and are continuously expanding our AWS infrastructure and CI/CD capabilities.

We are looking for a junior or mid-level developer. We value curiosity, strong engineering fundamentals, and willingness to learn.

Core Responsibilities

You will be working in the following areas:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using .NET (C#).
• Build new features and improvements for our digital products.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
• Help ensure high performance, security, and reliability across our platform.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.

Do you have what it takes?

To thrive in this role, the preferred candidate should have experience in several of the following areas:

• Experience with C# and .NET through professional work, education, open-source contributions, or personal projects.
• Understanding of APIs, backend development, and software engineering principles.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar.
• Interest in writing maintainable, well-tested software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong written and spoken English skills.
• Ability to read and understand Danish.

Experience with the following is beneficial, but not required:

• Cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Containerised applications.
• Automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Event-driven or distributed systems.
• Monitoring, observability, and production operations.
• Software architecture and common design patterns.

At Ritzau, we produce content for a wide range of Danish media outlets, and you will become part of an ambitious and informal work environment with a high level of openness, strong team spirit, and room for good ideas. 

We are approximately 160 employees – including around 100 journalists – organized across four editorial teams. As an independent news agency, our primary mission is to deliver credible, reliable, and impartial news. At the same time, we develop services and technologies that support communication, content production, and business operations within the media and corporate sectors.
